TWIN HARBOR TOWNS OF SUPERIOR
& DULUTH
Superior, Wisconsin Contributed by Rod & Judy Ness of Hermantown, Minnesota |
||||||||||||||||||||
This mural is located on the side of the Old Town
Bar & Restaurant
What makes it especially interesting to us is the tower on the hill on the right side of the mural (on the ridge above the grain elevators). That tower, which looks a little like a lighthouse, is actually the eighty-foot stone Enger Tower which stands at the top of Enger Park. Enger Tower was dedicated in 1939 by the then Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Martha of Norway and was named in honor of a local businessman (and native Norwegian). The contributors of this mural (as well as several of the roadside marvels found on this site) live a couple of miles away, so we consider this a snapshot of their home. We have been unable to identify the artist of the mural pictured above. We we will update this page if you know the artist's name and send us the information.
