This mural depicts pumpjacks (also known as grasshoppers) which are a common feature of the landscape in the Permian Basin of central Texas. "Pumpjacks" was a joint project of the Arts Assembly of Midland and The Chase Manhattan Foundation. Designed by Peter Himmelberg, it was painted by employees of the local Chase Manhattan Bank.
