Street Mural in Joliet, Illinois

Since the early 1970s, the city of Joliet, Illinois, has commissioned painters for a series of public murals. Local muralists include Kathleen Farrell, Valerie Richards, Lloyd Davies, Cindy Garcia, Christine O'Connor, John Gathwright, Kathleen Scarboro, Jesus Rodriguez, Dante DiBartolo, Thomas Manley, Andrea Rountree, Nicole Brints, Ilario Silva and Marsha Lega. The Friends of Community Public Art (FCPA) now administer this program.

Update January 2025 (RTA): A 2013 article reports degradation of the murals and funding issues with the FCPA. Indeed, the FCPA web site is no longer active.

Although we were unable to identify the artist who created this remarkably long mural we will update this page if you know the artist's name and send us the information.
