"Where in North America?" -- Section II
This is the Second section of a popular mind puzzle first brought to the membership by member Quebec Gen.
General Rules of the "Where in North America is this?" Game
1) Anyone can play -- just follow along and test your mettle about places found in North America.
2) You'll need to be a registered member of this Forum if you want to contribute your own photographs and/or participate in the discussion for each place.
3) You will need to have the ownership or usage rights to any photo that you post on this forum, as per the terms & conditions of Federal copyright law. If you post a photo that you do not own the rights to, Forum Management reserves the right to remove it. As a matter of practical use, we would expect that you would be posting only those photos that you or a close family member have taken.
4) Every photo of a mystery place needs to be unique in some way -- And there should be "visual clues" in the photo to enable us to solve where the mystery location is...
(Inactive -- you can look, but not enter new posts!)

........but having not traveled quite as extensively as some of you, it's all the inference I have oftentimes.
I'll say somewhere in the Uinta Range of Utah. Relatively flat-lying strata, at above-timberline up top, and sculpted by alpine glaciers to form cirques, aretes, and tarns. Forested at slightly lower elevations.
For any interested in glacial geomorphology, the curved cliff-face on the right is the headwall of a cirque, the walker is astride of an arete, and the small lake at lower elevation on the left is a tarn, itself below another cirque.

PS--on edit, I have another thought. See next post.
Continental Divide Trail in Colorado?
There are at least two sections of the Continental Divide trail in the Rio Grande Forest in Colorado that could look like this point. So... are we getting warmer?
Mark
hmmmmmmmmm.. Ok we need another hint
It's in Colorado, but it's not on the Continental Divide Trail.... can you give us another hint?
Mark
Where is the photographer standing?
And a much easier one....
What would one find downstream from this point?

Excellent work! Although I still wouldn't bend over a hot pool -- Nearly every year someone in the pursuit of "the perfect photo" get hurt or worse at national parks. I think it was two years ago that a husband with two small children in the car had his young wife step back "one more step" when framing her with a shot of Yellowstone Falls in one of viewpoints -- she lost her footing and it took a team of rangers the better part of a day to retrieve her body from the base of the cliff....And I've been known to stretch the bounds of sanity in pursuit of rainbow shots at the base of large waterfalls. Your photos are great -- looking forward to seeing more of them!

I guess I can relate to that:), I've done plenty of stupid things to get a great shot.
(Unfortunately, I was unable to recover these images from Gen's inventory)
Other adventures include exploring an active 1.8 km train tunnel, climbing a rusty 104-meter ladder inside the pillar of a bridge only to find out there is no exit at the top and there is no place to rest, climbing stairless staircases. Even if it was borderline suicidal, I believe the photos I've taken once I reached my goal were definitely worth the risk.;-)
You got it and see below!

Close enough, it's actually that first overlook that you come to when visiting the Island in the Sky district. Right past this point is the turn-off for the Schafer Trail which is an old cattle trail that winds down the rim following switchbacks carved into the canyon wall. See below....
