Geneviève Lauzière reports:
The original restaurant -- 40 feet in diameter and
three stories tall -- was built in 1942 by Hermas
Gibeau on Decarie Street in Montreal. Today the Decarie
Expressway is a major freeway, and the surroundings
of the restaurant have probably changed a lot since
the 1940s. But "The "Julep" is still
standing there serving homemade food and its very
foamy and famous orange juice. The restaurant still
operates as an old-fashioned drive-in. The waitresses
wear short skirts and use roller skates in the summer.
I know of two other Orange Julep restaurants in the
Montreal area, one on Sherbrooke St. East, and the
other on the South Shore. Restaurant Orange Julep Photographed
