BARN MURAL ON THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY
Painted by Wayne Fettro, July 4, 2004 Near Schellsburg, Pennsylvania Contributed by Jerry Kendrick of Birmingham, Alabama |
|||||||||
Eleven murals depicting life on the Lincoln Highway have been painted along the old road in Pennsylvania (more information about this project here). This view is from the top of the hill near the historic 1806 Log Church (which can be seen in the left-hand side of the mural) looking west over U.S. Highway 30. A circa-1930s car is shown with three men standing by it looking out over the expanse from the former Grandview Ship Hotel. Artist Wayne Fettro started painted billboards after he graduated from high school, and he is now a well-known muralist. This mural is painted on a barn owned by Richard and Ann Darrow. The other side has a view of two vintage cars traveling along the Lincoln Highway. The Darrow family also raises American bison, which attracts many visitors who enjoy taking pictures. The Barn is across the street from the Bison Corral Gift Shop about two miles west of Schellsburg on US-30. Click here for more information about the Bison Corral Gift Shop in Schellsburg, PA 15559.
