Did I miss the declaration of victory?
Or is Mark only assuming I got it?
Truth be told, Google does a world of good on things like this one. That, and knowing chert is often called flint, and that the Flint Hills have much in the way of novaculite, a grainy form of chert. That, plus knowing pfemm resides in or near Oklahoma. So, chert + byway + Oklahoma brought me close, and chert + byway brought me Flint Hills, and a link to a state by state scenic byways website brought me to a road map, where I determined it's NOT a loop but does intersect I-35.
Now watch me be wrong on this SWAG after all.

Yep... Flint Hills it is. They stretch North and South through central Kansas and a bit o' Oklahoma. Though in Oklahoma I think they're called the Osage Hills.
We didn't get to drive the byway though. we missed the north entrance but went ahead to the south entrance (exit 92 {Cassoday, KS} on I-35) so now at least we know where it is for next time...
And we did get to travel some nice back roads from Cassoday to El Dorado. Cassoday actually has a working Phonebooth. haven't seen one of those in years!
Somewhere in this great land
I recently took a trip to... well, here's a hint through a couple of pictures of one of the places that I stopped:
