Before heading out though, make sure you get the latest info, as that forecast looks like it could develop into one nasty storm from Friday pm through the weekend.

Yep, that looks like 2 to 3 feet of snow with wind. That will close the passes for sure.
New snow accumulation of 9 to 13 inches possible. Just sounds nasty and cold to me.

A lot more than that, Mark. When you add up all the new accumulation forecasts, you wind up with 23 to 40 inches, and winds from 17 to 43 mph.
The pass has closed again. Could well be it for this year !
This is a big one. You basically can't go anywhere in the whole area without chains except you can get to Yosemite without them on 140. Chain restrictions are everywhere - I-80, US-50, CA-88, CA-89, US-395, CA-168, CA-41, CA-120, CA-180 just to mention a few.
It's cold here in Las Vegas as well, snow is predicted in the local mountains today.

This could be the closest I've ever come to a fruitful prediction -- I opted for the 23rd -- but I bet they "call it" for today!

Just look at that graph ! With just over 30" laid down on the meadows, that has to be it !! Not convinced, take a look at the Web cams, the sky looks full with still loads to come.
We will have to wait for the official announcement, but it looks as though 19th November will be the winnig day this year. I predicted this in post 9, but unfortunately I bumped my computer and the '9' in the '19th toppled over, so it now looks like this > '6'. Does it count ?
