There's another version of this geo-puzzle game running on the RTA sister site -- Living-Las-Vegas.com and Vegas Eye posted one this week that is stumping the Las Vegas puzzle masters (at least partially), so I'm re-posting here and seeing what you guys can do with it...

1- Where would you be standing to get this view?
2- When did this building become operational?
3- What makes this view somewhat unique?
4- Bonus points: What is the identification number of the visible runway?
5- Double bonus points: What are the names of the visible peaks in the background?
You can see some of the answers they've worked out thus far, by looking at this link and then.... solving it here!
Mark
Hmm - it looks like that has already been identified as overlooking Gate C at McCarran, and it's runways 7/25 L&R behind it. I'm guessing that you are looking at McCullough Mountain in the background. I'm assuming that the tower is the airport control tower, the airport diagram confirms that.
The best I can come up with is the picture may be taken from some sort of tall, somewhat triangular structure between gates A and B. Not a clue what that might be unless it's part of the museum.
George,
You are on the right track -- but I'm not at liberty to make it too easy yet -- but I will say that employees of this building don't draw federal paychecks -- but they share some of the same job skills as their brethren at the tower in the foreground....
Mark
Can you at least confirm or deny that the structure the photo was taken from is physically on the airport?
And I can confirm that (I think -- If I can read Vegas Eye's notes correctly) that you were even looking at the correct structure on the satellite image -- although it looks nearly square to me.
Big Clue: The roof of this structure is WHITE!
mark
This doesn't look very square to me!
I haven't a clue what's inside there. Wild guess - you said WHITE roof, which might just contain radar - is the NWS in there?
The triangle-like rooftop is the main entrance lobby for the terminal. So, that's not the correct spot! But you are so close....
And yes, white roof at an airport usually means radar and, in fact, it does this time too. But it's not the National Weather Service...
Again, think back to the original clues -- this is (or was) a nearly unique service in the industry....
Mark
The only close to square white roof I can see that would be in the right place is on top of the very south end of terminal 2, where US Customs is. The only thing I can find involving radar or radar-like devices at LAS that would qualify as near-unique and not federally-owned is Lockheed-Martin's WindTracer test site.
The Geo-Sleuths in Las Vegas have been busy. Look at this photo, look at the tower-like structure to the left of the ATC tower....
And then, look at this update, posted by Vegas Eye....
Mark
Okay.............the original ground/ramp control tower, huh? Is it where the hand is in the attachment?
George, the tower is located near the 12:00 position of that photo and if you look at the photo link provided above you'll see a ground level view of it!
Mark
You mean what's just above the hand here?
Yes, that is the original and first of it's kind in the USA -- Dedicated Ramp and Ground Control Tower in the history of US aviation.

Where is this?

What is the significance of this spot?
When was it built?
Mark
Shoveling snow or getting ready to be couch potatoes tomorrow perchance?
Clue #1 -- This won a "Green Award"
Mark
That means my first wild guess is probably right, but I don't know exactly where it is in the complex.
I'm guessing this is the new City Center in Las Vegas, just recently finished.
Yes, this is located in the new CityCenter development in Las Vegas, NV -- but you need to dig a little deeper to get the other answers.
Mark
It looks like a monorail station to me.
Tram station, but same difference. Found one exterior pic, and one you-tube vid that flashes the interior.
Can't find any special significance, except for a fire station below it, but it did open Dec. 1st.
Twilight,
I really liked that photo that shows the fire station directly below the tram station. It's a little unusual to have a county fire station paid for by hotel corporation -- Mirage/MGM.
This is the Bellagio Station of the (free) train that connects Bellagio with the Monte Carlo Hotel with stops at the Crystals shopping mall.
The "special significance" was a misnomer -- I had thought when I posted this photo that this tram station location was very close to the site of the former "fake" roller coaster -- but I was off by at least 1/4 mile....
So... I think you and GLC nailed this one! More photos from City Center here, and here and here.

I've blurred the sign a bit to make it not instantly readable, but we'll see. But where is this?
***If you're just joining us for the first time on this game -- this is a good one -- It was a toughie and you can see how the clues work....***
Two word title and there's a USGS monument.... Oregon Trail... nah. We might need a little more of a clue here
This marker is NOT a Historical landmark, but it was considered worthy of this little park in it's honor, in the middle of a Soybean field.
And perhaps related to a first-of-its-kind train robbery?
Mark
Right part of the country, but, as I said, the location is NOT noteworthy for it's history.
...And then I thought it might be the place where soybeans were grown for the first time to create soy milk in the USA.
Not historic eh?
How close to Iowa is this?
Wild guess -- but this would be historic... Clear Lake, Iowa - Buddy Holly Crash Site?
Mark
It's a state that borders Iowa
The geographic center of the US?
It would appear there is a benchmark, and if its not historical in nature, it would seem that it has be noteworthy simply because of its location.
However, I don't think that's right, because it doesn't look like western South Dakota (center of the 50 states) but Kansas (center of the 48) doesn't border Iowa - and neither does North Dakota which could be the center of North America.
You are on the right track
US population center in Phelps County, MO?
Not it either
I've come back to Beatrice -- but this time for the Homestead Monument -- not really historical in nature.
The state it's in has not been mentioned yet.
One interesting note on this sign. It actually has a very noticeable mistake in it's title.
One of the previous 'center of population' locations (e.g. in the 1900s) in Illinois?
No, this place's relevance is current (and it's not in Illinois), and the same as if it was put up 100 years ago (it wasn't, I'm not sure when the sign and the park were built).
Does the relevance of this location deal with a view one has from this spot?
Does a particular animal or bird always come back here each year?
45 degrees North
90 degrees West
In the middle of a soybean field in North-Central Wisconsin

The mistake is the GEOLOGICAL Marker, it should be Geographical. But this and one spot in China are the only 2 45/90 spots on land. It's just SW of Wausau.
And As a note that I discovered from Googling it too see how hard it is to find (which is why I definitely blurred Geological Marker), the actual spot is about 1000 ft north of the benchmark. With the accuracy of GPS units now, they had to add a small sign explaining this fact.
