Here's a checklist of the kinds of things to look at when you pick-up your RV rental. It was compiled by a fellow roadtripper with about 30+ RV rentals over the last decade or so.

Dave, thank you for the well detailed and informative write up on your trip. The pictures add such a key piece to the write up, adding that "you gotta see it to believe it" component. Words alone can't describe your travels. A big thank you for taking the time to put it together!
I'm glad you enjoyed the report and hope it helps in your planning. As the old saying goes; "A picture is worth a thousand words"
Dave.
again-- WOW
i can't wait. learned a lot about the details of camping, time of year, crowds, and most of all talking to locals and taking your time to breath and soak in the fragrence of the area.
fantastic diary.
i am motivated beyond words.
I had occasion to reread much this thread tonight.
Great storytelling and great photos.
A real treat.

It's downright inspirational! Pity that so many of the photos have that Photo Bucket watermark; I assume that's a photo hosting site. Are the images unretrievable?
Rick
That's Photobucket's way to push you into paying for a premium plan in order to be able to hotlink images.
Wow ! I can't believe this trip happened over a decade ago, I sure hope this new one slows down a little as I have no idea where the time went.
As George said it's Photobucket's way of making you pay a premium. It was a free service when the trip report was first done with no watermark or blurred images and then they basically said pay up or we blur them. I had already started to update the photos in this thread and then got distracted. This is a reminder to get on and do the rest of them !! (So yes I can retrieve them)Quote:

Indeed it is! I was inspired by it at the time as you may see if you read through (!) and I am planning to finally take a similar trip this summer having spent the last decade off the road bringing up kids. Can't wait to hit the road so thanks for the inspiration, Dave!
I recently upgraded my Flickr account for the same reason. Basically, Flickr is acting like a "Cloud" for a lot of my photos, and if I didn't pay for Pro, I wasn't going to have that Cloud. Also, the photos that I have placed on RTA forum trip reports would have gone "Link missing." The cloud, to me, was worth the $5/month it costs.
Great report. I suspect that as more and more states join California in the Shelter-in-Place mandate, I'll have more time to re-read everyone's old trip reports (including my own). I just got the word that I won't be going back to work until just after Easter, if then.
Donna
Really great to be able to see these photos restored.
Easter eh?
These are challenging times!
Yes, lots of great field reports to re-read and the "Where in North America is this game" is worth a look too.

Well, I think we all know what happened to the 2020 plans! Anyway, like Mark above, I have revisited and re-read this thread this evening and it is still a great record of what looks to have been a hell of an adventure! I am currently - finally - making my own plans to visit this are this coming summer and I cannot wait!
Cheers Craig. It's been a while since I have visited this thread and it's given me a few things to think about as I day dream of a future trip. As you know there is so much to see and do, I had to cut so many places from the original plan that I would like to visit some day.
