Glacier Point Road: Plowing began April 22 with a tentative opening date of May 3.
Tioga Road: Plowing begins April 29 with a tentative opening date of May 11.
YNP website has added information to the "plowing update." Glacier Point Road opened for 3 days to bicycles and a photo was taken April 25th showing plows on Tioga Road.

News coming from the Yosemite team confirms that Glacier Point will open on Friday [3rd] as predicted.

It's been comfirmed on the Yosemite site that Glacier point road is open today from Noon.
They are still listing Tioga as likely to open on May 11th, although there is a chance of some snow over the weekend through to Weds/Thurs. It doesn't look like it will amount to anything, but with Thunderstorms in the forecast I wonder if it will cause slight delay to the plowing effort.

Hehe, i didn't think i would be hoping for little snow, so they move the opening on the 12th. ;)
If a late Spring storm comes in it could change everything, but with such little snow up there and less chance of major rock falls under the snow, I don't think it will take them long to clear. The 12th is a Sunday and I'm sure they would rather spend the weekend at home with the family and have the pass open for weekend visitors, so they need to get a move on and open it Friday afternoon of the 10th. ;-)

It's snowing in the Sierras - Ebbetts, Monitor, and Sonora Passes are closed and it looks like they have closed the gate on 120 in Lee Vining Canyon.

So much for my first opening guess (today) but still a few more days until my second date.
The Glacier point road is now open according to the latest from Yosemite.
Ebbetts and Monitor are reopened, Sonora is still closed as is Lee Vining Canyon.

It's not confirmed open yet on the official site, but it looks well and truly an odds on favourite that George [glc] will claim the prize for th 2013 Spring opening with his prediction of May 11th.

YNP website listed road as open when I looked at 11:15 am. So congratulations are in order for George. For the future, os ot the opening of the west end or east end (Tioga Entrance gate) of the road?
The road is listed as open on the 'current conditions' page and there is little doubt to the opening date, but we have to wait for the official date to be announced on the 'Opening and closing dates' page on the Yosemite site before we can say for sure. [Which hopefully won't be long]

When I was checking to see the latest info [still no official date confirmation] I checked the weather for the region and when I saw a 'Special weather Statement' I though we might be looking at a temporary closure and a late storm, but oh no ! It is a warning against possible heat related illness as temps could rise to 100 degrees in the central San Joaquin valley and record breaking highs in Bakersfield and Fresno.

...And a preliminary congratulations to George for his triumphant TPP achievement. George is actually the most recent acting dcTPP (Which is also known as the official Darn Close -- Tioga Pass Prognosticator).
Just waiting for the official YNP report.

Yosemite have now updated the official opening and closures page and confirmed what we already knew. The official opening date for the Spring 2013 contest was Saturday May 11th.
George's prognostication might have been aided and influenced by a post made by Dermeta in an article about the likely opening of the pass -- but that's just speculation now....And, more importantly -- all's fair in this contest -- Prognosticators are empowered to use whatever tools they have when predicting this date each year.
George was actually the dcTPP having nearly predicted the opening date last year!

you are very kind to think that.
I just found the information, but I didn't have the expertises to call a decision based on some info on the net. I won't complain if glc decides to split his award, but he is not obliged to do so, as i chose another date.
I will definitely post a review and some pics from the trip, as I am flying to NY on Wednesday, and leaving for SF on Saturday.
Oh my - I don't think Mark would be able to send out a gas card for you to be able to get it in time before you leave Slovenia!
What about to my relatives in NY? I will be there until Saturday 25th morning.
If that is possible, you all would make my day sunny. ;)
