Well, technically your response for Lake Mohave would apply to "What's downstream of this point?" So, I guess this will count as the correct response. The place I snapped the photo was actually Willow Beach, just downstream from Hoover Dam. Rafters put in at Black Canyon and then a leisurely day trip is to float down to Willow Beach or you can make this a nice two day float like Ellen "River Goddess" Ross did here...

On the basis of the sheep... I would say the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park near Logan Pass. Here's a field report from that highway. But I am not sure what that dome-like structure could be in the top right of the frame. So, it may not be Logan Pass?

It's not in Glacier National Park and there are no sheep in the photo.

I replaced the photo with a larger version. Refresh your browser and take a closer look.

BTW: The white critters in the field report for Going to the Sun road are not sheep.

Some people refer to them as mountain goats, but those look like mountain sheep to me. At first I thought they could be charlais cattle -- but the close-ups look like mountain sheep.

So, not in Glacier --- OK gotta do some thinking.

Care to make a small wager on that? I can even tell you the genus -- but they are mountain sheep and neither mountain goats nor Dall Sheep as some might think.

No way! My truck is only 2wd, I took the pic from the viewpoint.

I think driving it in early spring would be an "E" ticket ride to say the least. Somehow the notion of sliding the entire way down is not.... pleasant.

If I had a properly equipped 4wd, I would have done it. That day would have been very messy no matter what - it was raining.

I'm not afraid to take my truck off road - it does have a limited slip rear, but it has standard highway tires. Rough slow going would not be fun at all though - it's got a heavy duty clutch in it for towing, and it's pretty beat - it chatters like mad when you try to slip it at crawl speeds.

The farthest off road I got this trip was the drive down to the end at Capitol Reef.

The photo of the mountain goats was taken in Colorado.

Somewhere along the Mt Evans highway or maybe Independence Pass near Aspen. I really didn't know that one could ever seen these mountain goats as far south as Colorado.

You guessed it. Of those two, only the Mount Evans Highway has an observatory dome on top. I have seen mountain goats, bighorn sheep, elk and deer during one trip up to the top.

Watching a sunset from the top is great.

A few years ago I made the mistake of staying on top way too long. Had to drive down on black ice in pea soup fog.

Wow, thanks for sharing that with us. I love that view. It reminds me of the Pikes Peak road -- (although that is graded dirt...)

Black ice in a fog.... Yeah, that makes my hands sweat, just thinking about the down grades....

The easy answer is sitting in a boat, but you probably want something a bit more specific. :)

I was wondering if it could be south of the border. The trees are wrong for Western Canada or Alaska and the gorge doesn't show signs of glacial activity. The cliffs look too high for anyplace in Eastern Canada.

Is it Cañón del Sumidero?

Ted Alan Steadman was in a boat on the Rio Grijalva somewhere in Cañón del Sumidero in Chiapas Mexico

At that point, those cliffs are ~ 2800 feet tall -- nearly vertical -- must be awesome to see.

This isn't nearly as spectacular, but do you know where it is?

Most folks don't think of Yellowstone as a place to see petrified wood Someday. Someday I hope to hike the Specimen Ridge trail in Yellowstone.

You are correct, it's the Delicate Arch Trail.

Your photo was taken in Toronto Island Park.

Given that hint, I would guess that the abandoned building is either the Victory Soya Mills Silos or the Canada Malting Silos and I would put my money on the Canada Malting Silos -- so that would make it the Little Norway Park!

....Entitled "Arrival," the sculpture recalls the Irish immigrant, one of 650,000 who fled the Irish Famine of 1845-50. Disease had wiped out the country's staple, potatoes, sentencing more than a million people to death by starvation. He is one of 38,000 who arrived in Toronto (population then 20,000) after a long voyage on the Atlantic, crammed in disease-ridden "coffin ships.".... The sculpture "Arrival" will ultimately be joined by three other famine immigrants a pregnant woman, a child and another man bent over in prayer. Their final home will be Ireland Park, which will open in 2007. The tiny park will reclaim waterfront industrial land at the foot of the Canada Malting silos (symbols of plenty, Kearns notes) at the southeast corner of Bathurst Quay in memory of the famine immigrants.
