Overall, the 395 is the prettier route in my opinion. The other route has some nice sections, but US395 is magnificent.

I prefer 395 because of the scenery. It goes through some nice big and small towns. If you think of Bishop as a big town, then that would qualify. It goes past lakes Crowley and Convict, past Mono lake, an unusual lake, in that it's a salt lake in the Sierra's. Through Bridgeport, an interesting little town. You could take 395 through western Nevada and see Lake Tahoe, and take 80 west to San Francisco. Route 80 goes through Sacramento and then into San Francisco.
I'm confused by that - 395 doesn't go by Tahoe. I would take 395 to 50 to Lake Tahoe and on to Sacramento, better than I80 as long as the weather is good.Quote:
