I'm planning a road trip from Boston to Charleston, SC using the coastal roads at the end of the summer. I don't have a whole lot of time (just a few days) but would like suggestions on road food, roadside motels, and or historic inns, and quirky roadside attractions. Any ideas??

I love driving the East Coast, especially if you can avoid the major cities and enjoy some of its more out of the way locations. Three days from Boston to Charleston should allow for this type of wandering, so here are a few of my previous suggestions for itineraries of the sort you're looking for.
NJ to NC

A trip hugging the coast over three days would put you in roughly Cape May, NJ or Lewes, DE at the end of day one (depending on whether you want or can get a sunrise or sunset passage on the ferry) at the end of day 1; and somewhere in the southern part of the Outer Banks, say Hatteras or Ocracoke, at the end of day 2. Each of those towns has more quaint inns and B&Bs than you can shake a stick at, and since accommodations are such a personal choice, I will leave that decision to you.

Thanks for the info, that sounds exactly like what we want to do. Anyone know of any curbside dining or quaint little restaurants on my route?
