Tioga Kiosk Link

March 21st, 2009

The server that was delivering the Tioga Pass Kiosk imagery is not working consistently. Here is the photo from earlier today: (Now this is weird — this ought to be a static image — but it is acting like a dynamic link — it’s updated itself since I posted this….) So, perhaps this will always show the current image — it’s dark there right now…. and today (03/22) the lens is covered in snow!

I was surprised to see a clear road on this mornings update [via this link] and amazed there wasn’t any snow in the meadow and only small patches on the mountains. I checked it out and it was the same on the Yoesemite website !

I then noticed the date in the left hand corner which read
    “17:49:29 Mon Jun 23 2008”

It would appear they are having some problems.

Mark, The only way I have been able to capture what you are seeing and describing at the time is to click on the image and save it to the computer, and then upload into the post, [as I did in the “Fire in the sky” post] or else it is active and will update.

    Dave,

I’m afraid I don’t understand your last comment — what are you referring to?

Sorry, I was refering to your first comment with regards to “it should be a static image but acting like a dynamic link”.

In the past I have done the same as you [presumably] and linked direct from the image to a website and it continues to up date.
To keep the image static I have right clicked the image and selected “save picture as” to my computer. By doing this you have a “frozen image” that won’t uodate.
