    Default Lake Tahoe Questions

    HI Everyone.

Not sure if this is the best forum for these questions but thought i would ask.
Me and some friends are doing a road trip in Sept and Lake Tahoe is one of our destinations. I just have a few questions:-

    1. Whats the weather like in September? Tempereture etc?
    2. Can you book activities such as Mountain Biking, Kayaking, rafting etc when you get there or does it have to be booked in advance?
    3. Do they rent mountain bikes?

We are also going to the Grand Canyon and I suppose the above questions apply there too with regards to activities there too such as mountain biking and GC flights?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum!

Pretty darn lovely -- crowds are mostly gone and the weather is still warm during the day and cool at night.
    2. Can you book activities such as Mountain Biking, Kayaking, rafting etc when you get there or does it have to be booked in advance?
Short answer -- yes. Lake Tahoe encompasses two states and two-dozen towns and villages -- where are you planning on going?

Grand Canyon flights gnerally orginate out of Las Vegas or Phoenix. Here is the link to NP site with info about weather conditions.
And a field report I wrote in early October, 2004. Be sure to look at the bottom of this page for some more ideas!

    Happy Planning!

    Thanks Mark.

I am not sure about where we are going to stay near lake Tahoe, I didnt realise there was so many places to choose from!
We are wanting to do som rafting, kayaking and some mountain biking over a couple of days, but we are also looking at a busy nightlife, not gambling but more nightclubs and bars/pubs.

Well, the best nightlife is on the Nevada side -- Kings Beach and Incline Village would be my choice.

Emerald Bay (above) has plenty of places to mountain bike too!
For mountain biking, so many places, but if it were me (and I had a limited time) I would choose the Homewood area (about 9:00 on a clock face) on the Lake. The views from the ridge lines of the lake are simply awesome. The least expense motels will be in South Lake Tahoe, but you can find outfitters in just about every one of the towns that surround Lake Tahoe.
