Pacific Coast Road Trip - Needs Help!

I want to take a trip down/up the Pacific Coast. Maybe start in San Fran and go up to Seattle/Vancouver? I need help on where to start/end, where to stop and sleep, what to see, and a time frame. When is the best weather for a trip? I will have about 10 days for the trip. Advice?? Please!

Welcome to the Forum! Best weather? Hmmm that is tricky, because I like to travel the north coast when it partly storming with the interplay of sunshine and shadow. Ten days is a good length of time for such a journey. There are some truly exceptional posts on this forum about trips other roadtrippers have made over the years, (use the search function in the green navigation bar). One place that I have always wondered about and you might find fun to stay over-night would be the "Fools Rush Inn" near Mendocino. The best guide book I have ever found for the PCH is this one written by Paige Penland.

We need a bit more information: what kind of things do you like to see (apart from Ocean obviously) Scenery, museums, cities, beaches etc? What kind of accomodations are you thinking of - camping, cheap motels, B&Bs etc? How far from the coast are you willing to wander?

If you haven't done the west coast before I would reccomend starting further south, there is some great scenery between Santa Barbara and SF.
