NY to Denver midweek 11/14- 11/15

Hi Folks,

I am driving from NY to Denver, and I am wondering if anyone can make a recommendation between Rt 70 and RT 80. Both are insterstates, and both go through various cities. I unfortunately need to get there as fast as possible, ofcourse with all safety precautions in mind.

I am wondering which of the two main routes will offer less congestion, less construction, and if anyone knows, fewer tolls. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Some quick general answers to your questions. The I-80 route is about 1780 miles, would take about 28 hours of driving time, and run you around $13.00 in tolls. The I-70 route is about 1810 miles, would take about 28 and a half hours, and has no significant tolls. My experience has been that I-70 is a little bit less congested than I-80, typified by St. Louis vs Chicago. As for construction, your best bet is to check the various state highway department websites as your trip approaches. Hope that helps, and good luck.

Sorry, but I was wrong on the 'no significant tolls' on the I-70 route. Tolls on this will run you about $10.75.
