Default A place to stop between San Fran and LA

    Good Morning from Boston!

My boyfriend and I are taking the roadtrip from San Francisco to LA at the end of August. We are looking to stop halfway between the two cities for a night. Does anyone have any suggestions of a cute town where we can stop at? We don't want touristy so much as we want quaint and comfort.

    Thank you for your time!!

    Pismo Beach
Right in the middle and a great place to stay.
You can even drive on the beach. The town of Pismo still looks like So Cal of the 1960's. This is what Southern Cal looked like before evething went crazy.
If you go on a Thursday check out the Farmers Market in San Luis Obispo
it's really fun loads of food.

Pismo Beach is a great suggestion -- but it would help if we knew what highway you are planning on using.

    Thanks a million

That's such a wonderful stretch of coast, there's a million places you could choose. I particularly like Cayucos (just north of San Luis Obispo). Bob

Paso Robles has a nice downtown, it has a quaint and honest feel to
it. Small businesses surround a central park.

There was a severe earthquake in December of 2003 that damaged/destroyed
some buildings, but I'm sure they've cleaned that up by now.

You'd have to come inland from Highway 1 via Hwy 46.
