Las Vegas to Oceanside, California

Hi

My boyfriend and I will be visiting Las Vegas in few weeks, while were there we were planning on visiting a friend in Oceanside California.

Does anyone have any idea how long this would take to drive and what interstate we would take to get there??

Well, there is the fast trip and the slow trip -- which did you have in mind? OK-- the fastest route for this ~ 300 mile trip would be Interstate 15 all the way to Interstate 5 and then turn west on State Route 76 to Oceanside. If you look at most online mapping programs, they will route you on state route 91 and via the toll roads down to I-5 farther north and then down the coastal highway. That will work too, but I drive this route fairly often and I ALWAYS go the interior route. Plus, you can stop for lunch on the way and enjoy one of the best calzones in the Americas at Temecula Pizza Company.

Driving time is 100% a factor of the day and time of day that you travel, but in round numbers, you can expect the journey will take between five and six hours depending upon traffic from Las Vegas. If you were to go on one of the slower routes, the journey could easily take all day.

we were planning on taking the quick route and probarbly leaving very early in the morning.

What time would be best to take the trip i.e weekday or weekend?

It is easier to describe the worst times -- Las Vegas to Oceanside would be dismal after 3:00 pm on a Sunday. Almost any other day, if you leave in the morning will put you into Oceanside at a reasonable time.
