Default family trip from phoenix to san francisco

I have from july the 7th to the 14th to go from phoenix to san francisco with my family.
Since we want to enjoy as much as we can in the city, I wish to know which route should I take from phoenix, in order to arrive as fast as my car can to san francisco.
Also I will be thankful if you tell me where to hang out in san francisco.

Go west on I-10, until it merges in I-210 around Ontario, CA, which merges in I-5 north of La. When you get close to San Francisco, you will go west on I-580 to Oakland, then take I-80 into San Francisco.

Per MS Streets & Trips, this is 752 miles. Could be done in one very long day, hopefully there is more than one driver if you attempt this, or done in two fairly easy days. About 12 hours total driving time....of course, traffic through LA could add some time here.

Things to do in San Francisco:
    Alcatraz
    Fisherman's Wharf
    The Presidio
Winchester House (actually in San Jose)
    Napa Valley tour
Paramount's Great America theme park (also in San Jose)
Ripley's Believe It Or Not (these are always fun)
    Zoo
Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo
Chinatown, Haight Ashbury, and The Mission are fun neighborhoods to explore
    Lombard Street

There's tons to do there. I'm sure you won't have time to get bored.
