  1. Default Cleveland to Florida

    Hi all--

Tossing around ideas for a summer road trip. We were thinking of traveling from Cleveland to Florida to visit family (southern florida). Along the way we wanted to visit a friend in Charlotte, NC, stop in Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA and possibly go to Orlando then on to Fort Lauderdale.

What is the best route? We want to make good time to Charlotte. Looking at maps, I can't tell if taking I-77 is better than cutting across to I-95?

First, I LIKE I-95, especially after I have read the I-95 guidebook and know about some of those hidden gems that can be found along the way. That being said, without question I-77 is a faster road! I-95 is a popular and somewhat over-utilized corridor and it is rare to go faster than 60 mph for long distances. I-77 has some construction (a fact of life) but it will be a much faster route for you.

    Have a great ride!
