West Coast - East Coast!

Hi,

I am thinking (with a couple of friends) of doing a road trip in April 2006 from New York to San Francisco. From New York we would like to go to Chicago, preferably via Niagra Falls, then on to the Colorado Rockies, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park and then up to Salt Lake City and then across to Lake Tahoe and then end up in San Francisco. Hopefully if we have time we will drive along the coast to Los Angeles.

Does anyone have any tips on a good route to take and any other nice places along the way which we may be able to visit? We are looking on taking about 3 weeks for the trip.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
