I'm going to be driving w/ my fiance from San Diego, CA to Dallas, TX. Does anybody have any tips for a route and/or
interesting places to see on the way. Need some help, leaving in a week.

    Thanks All.

  2. Default How far afield?

The direct route is I-8, I-10 and I-20. How far off that route do you want to go to sightsee? How much time do you want to spend along the way?

kind of want to go direct is there anything on the direct route worth seeing.

  4. Default Absolutely

Don't EVER ask "is there anything worth seeing!" There's ALWAYS something worth seeing! :)

Here's a partial list: Yuma Territorial Prison site; Kartchner Caverns State Park (near Benson, AZ); Fort Bowie National Historic Site (south of Cochise, AZ).

Also, check out the Abilene State Park (Abilene, Texas), situated along a creek, it was a resting place for the Comanche people in the old days on their journeys around west Texas -- and it's where the buffalo roam today -- as well as some "official" Texas longhorns. Abilene also has some rodeo events this weekend 2/12 and there are a couple of historical museums there -- a military museum with WWII memorabilia and also the Buffalo Gap Historical Village with pioneer artifacts, living history demonstrations, etc.
