I've just hit 70 days on the road starting in Seattle in September (fully blogged), but I'm now getting a little concerned about weather. I'm in Kansas City on 5th December, and need to be in Vegas on the 11th. Any suggestions on whether I can go via Denver (I-70 then I-15 or will the weather be too bad on the roads), or should I head south from Denver, or should I avoid I-70 completely? Any/all advice appreciated

Default About 10 different opinions on this subject

    Robin,

I-70 is really well maintained -- even in blizzards -- unless the local weather stations are advising to not use it (like it is closed) I would think that I-70 to I-15 is still the best route. It is the route I would use!

Default Ooops. It Happened -- I-70 is closed

Hmmmmm. Well, the unusual happened -- I-70 is closed near Glenwood Springs due to a massive rock and mud slide and it is darn unlikely that they will be able to get it open anytime soon.
