    Default where to stop/sleep

i'm driving from chicago to los angeles, with three days to do it. i'm wondering what are good cities to stop and sleep in with the bulk of the driving being done in the first two days. i would like to take the northern route through denver, as opposed to rt. 66. please help me decide where to stay. thank you.

  2. Default Big Springs and St George

Take I-80 west to I-76, that to DEN, then I-70 and I-15 to Los Angeles. If you drive 12 hours per day with few stops, you can make Big Springs, NE (at the jct of I-80 and I-76), on the first day. Stay at Ogallala, Big Springs, Julesburg or Sterling, wherever you want to quit. Next day, drive to St George UT, and 3rd day you can be in LA by mid-afternoon. Tough drive. Make sure you are very well-rested before you start and don't drive drowsy -- if your mind starts to drift, stop -- it's dumb to kill yourself for a time schedule. Bob
