Denver CO to New York NY in 13 days?
Hi there!
I'm planning on coming over to the states from Europe in June. I'll arrive in Denver one evening, then with a friend spend the next 13 days driving to NY. I've booked the flights today and now need to organise the road trip. Only problem is I have no idea what we should see along the way! I put in the route in yahoo maps and it gave me what looked a most uninteresting route!
I guess going a little further south past Nashville would be cool and then up some of the east coast through DC. But does anyone have a list of must see places along this route? I would like to spend 3 days in NY and probably 2 in DC, which is going to leave me maybe 7 or 8 days travelling.
Any advice is most appreciated!
Thanks

RE: Denver CO to New York NY in 13 days?
Hi,
I haven't done this particular drive, but I do have a suggestion about staying in Washington DC. If you like bed and breakfasts, there is a great one called Kalorama Guest House. They have a location by the National Zoo and one on Mintwood Place. My husband and I stayed in the one on Mintwood numerous times when we lived back East. They have clean rooms filled with antiques and a lovely continental breakfast in the morning, either inside or in the garden. Caveat: some of the rooms are shared bathrooms. We always stayed in room 10 for the beautiful bay window, but it is a shared bath w/two double beds. Also, parking is hard to find on the street, but they do offer parking for an additional fee. This is in an eclectic part of town, with lots of international foods, kind of like Greenwich Village in NYC. Everything is within walking distance, including a small natural foods grocery, and there is a kitchen @ Kalorama for guest use. It is also very easy to get to all of the major tourist attractions. Also, if you like Spanish food, there is a great restaurant in NYC called "Sevilla" in the Village. They make terrific food and even better Sangria. Hope you have a good time!
