I am about to travel from long island, ny to jacksonville, florida on interstate 95 and then onto interstate 10 to get to orange county, california in a 95 volkswagon jetta. Is this safe to do during the winter? Any advice please.

The 10 is pretty good this time of year. Stop in New Orleans for some Amber Jack (fish), Hurricanes (drink), and debauchery.
As far as weather goes, watch out for potential trouble on your way down the coast...but seriously, you're a New Yorker, man. Come on!
