Default NY to SF round trip August

Planning a trip NY to SF and back for the entire month of August in an RV with 2 kids, 2 dogs & the wife. Looking for ideas on a route, where to stop and what to see that will be interesting to all. We want to see natural beauty of the country, national parks, wildlife and people. We can stay in the RV and hotels. Any ideas would be appreciated as to routes, sites and where to stay.

Default What criteria are you using?

    David,

Well, what criteria would you use that would match "...be interesting to all..."? There is a service that we recommend for RVers seeking routing advice. Check out Tracks-Trails on the RTA Travel Planner User Guide.

If it were me, I would want to check out the Upper penisula of Michigan on my way west, (I haven't been there yet).

But given your schedule (and it will take 10 days of pure driving to cover the distance) I would book westward on I-80 to I-76 to I-70 and explore the SW area of Colorado and the five national parks in southern Utah and northern Arizona. Zip over to Death Valley and then use Tioga Pass to enter Yosemite NP and then wander around the California Gold Country and then on to SF.
