does anyone know how the roads are from Vegas to Uma?

I assume you meant Las Vegas to Yuma? It would be difficult to find roads between those cities that are not paved, state and federal highways. Travel distance is about 291 miles and will take you ~ six hours depeding on traffic and construction en-route.

If you can stretch a 200 mile detour -- consider going to Big Bend National Park -- The town Terlingua is a cool place and really great bar -- Starlight Theater.
