Need Road tripping/ camping advice!!
My friends and I are planning a road trip for a month this summer...we can start from pretty much anywhere but are hoping to end up eventually in Boston.
We would like to keep the trip fairly cheap, and are looking for places to go with lots of camping options, etc. For example, I know the southwest offers Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, etc...but if we were to start at New Orleans or the Gulf of Mexico and head up the East Coast (rather than do the West, which I've already done), what is the best way/route to take? Can you suggest places to go? We would like to see the big cities (ie D.C. & NYC) but also would like to camp most of the time. Thanks for any input!

Location, location, location
There are two RV campgrounds located in very close proximity to DC and NYC. I believe both allow tent camping, but you will need to check. Cherry Hill Campground is located in College Park, MD and is ideally located for visiting Washington, D.C.
The Liberty Harbor Marina RV Park is located directly across the river from the lower end of Manhattan and ferries depart from the campground to NYC. Plus, one of the best and least expensive seafood restaurants can be found there. For more information: http://www.roadtripamerica.com/eats/liberty.htm

Camping areas in other states?
Thanks for your reply!
I am curious, do you know of any good camping areas around New Orleans/Gulf of Mexico, as well as in Alabama, Georgia, N&S Carolina, and Virginia...as we are planning to drive through these states. We have places to stay in NYC, D.C., and up in CT as well.
Thanks so much!!

NC campgrounds
You can't miss the Pisgah Nat'l Forest, Take the Blue Ridge Parkway through western NC and Va. along the side of the roads there are places to park your car hike into secluded beautiful mountainland and camp for the evening. I suggest the one near marker 422 outside of Ashville NC.
Rock on!
