NYC, Chicago roundtrip in 10 days

I am going on a road trip from NYC to Chicago and back in 10 days in September. I am interested in anything to visit along the road especially anything nature related. I would also like to know, what is worth taking a look at in Toronto, ON, sight-seeing-wise.
Any other good advices on hostels or hotels along the road?

I highly recommend Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, located about 40 miles or so east of Chicago, just off
I-80. It is a strech of sand dunes lining the shore of Lake Michigan. Quite beautiful in the spring and early fall especially.

Another worthwhile stop is the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. I haven't been there in several years, and some friends have told me that it has become overly commercial (they say you can't turn your head without seeing a Pepsi logo and the like). But the fact remains that there is an incredible assortment of exhibits, and it is presented in a very hi-tech manner.

If you are the casino-going type, consider traveling a little southwest of Chicago and hitting the riverboat playrooms in Joliet, Illinois.

10 days is plenty of time for your trip. Enjoy.
