From L.A. to Chicago for Christmas-Am I nuts?

Hey, just wanted to know if a road trip from the Southland L.A. to the Windy City in the latter days of December is foolhardy? I was thinking about the southern route (AZ-NM-TX-OK-MO-IL) but after reading a couple of the threads it seem the northern route through Colorado might actually be safer. I won't be alone on this trip, but, even so, is it worth it?

It all depends on the weather on the days you are on the road. Traveling any section of that route is not really much of a problem. Just do it.
