    Default Helene aftermath

Both I-40 and I-26 are closed indefinitely between TN and NC. NCDOT says it may take a YEAR to reopen I-40, and TDOT says I-26 will be closed at least till the end of October. Official detour is I-81 and I-77. There are many other roads in the region that are closed. NC government has enacted an emergency travel ban for the entire western portion of the state.

Default Will use this thread for posting advisories

It is a tragic aftermath. Viewing some of the videos online posted by locals is pretty overwhelming.

Starting this thread is a good idea, we can continue to post road advisories here.

I-26 has reopened. One lane is open each way in Unicoi County TN, no wide loads or thru truck traffic. They are hoping to get the westbound lanes of I-40 open "to some traffic" by January 4.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is now open through all of VA, but most of it in NC is still closed.
