Hoping for some expert advice from those of you who drive/have driven this route in winter. Next week I'll be driving a 16' Penske truck from Tacoma out to Denver. Google has a couple options, I-84 and I-80 down through Salt Lake, over through Laramie, Ft Collins then I-25 down to Denver. The other option listed is I-90 east through Montana to Billings then south until you switch to I-25 in Buffalo. I don't mind driving the truck but I'm worried about snow/wind as I won't have chains and it's a rental truck.
With winter in full swing what route would you recommend taking? A whole different route? Are winds/passes a major concern or just stressful?
