Anyone who is planning to visit statue of Liberty should consider, Liberty State park in Jersey City, NJ. It is located couple miles from Holland Tunnel and view is just stunning. You get to view NYC's skyline in complete view and up close view of Statue of Liberty (Yes, it is literally arms reach from here.) Crowd boarding the boat is less here than in Mahattan's Battery park. If you reserve your ticket from Statue Cruises and take your print out you will save hours in wait time (just get there about 5-10 min before your reserved time.) If you want to go up to Statue you have two options: 1) Monument ticket (no extra cost but must reserve to get in there/ there is very heavy security check point) will take you up the stair to pedestal viewing area, 2) to get to head of Statue you must make separate reservation (very limited number but you can reserve up to a year and they are filling up fast.) With both option you will go through the Monument museum where you can see the history and other things on Statue which is well worth it consider when you get to the Statue of Liberty not much to do other than walk around in lower part, eat, and shop.
