  1. Default Maryland-Boston-Maryland in 4 days

We are leaving may 17(mon) early am and should be back in BWI by fri am (the latest). We have never been to boston and wanted to see which stops are recommended when traveling there, with our time frame. (preferably a loop back to maryland). We plan to car camp the whole time and would appreciate any itinerary suggestion for stops along the way. one thought is driving straight to boston, staying overnight then stopping in several spots on the way back to maryland.

    Default Distances Can Be Deceiving

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

Although it's only a bit over 400 miles from Baltimore to Boston, that is still a full day's drive once you have to negotiate the New Jersey Turnpike, the New York metro area, and Hartford. You might be able to squeeze in a stop or too if it's not too far from your route. A few such sites would include the Mark Twain home in Hartford or Dinosaur State Park just south of there, Bear Mountain State Park or Palisades Interstate Park if you stay well outside NYC, and maybe a Revolutionary War battlefield or two. In Boston, your best bet is to walk the Freedom Trail, It and many of the stops along it are free, and Boston is a city best seen on foot in any event.
