We will be traveling to the West Coast with our two foreign exchange students (two boys, both age 17, one from Brazil and one from Sicily) and want to show them as much as possible in the nine days that we have to spend.
We will be flying into LA on Friday, April 8, spending three nights in the area (Fri, Sat, Sun). Then we are considering either driving to Las Vegas for one or two nights and then on to San Francisco OR driving up the California coast to San Francisco, spending two days on the road. We need to end up in San Francisco by the evening of Thursday, April 16. SO we have three nights to play with. Is it realistic to make the trip to Vegas, see the Grand Canyon, and/or Yosemite in that time? Is there a route that makes sense?
Would you recommend one option (Vegas vs. Pacific Coast) over the other?
My husband and I will be splitting the driving. We know LA and Vegas well, SF just OK, and have never made the drive from LA to SF, so do not know what to see or do along that route.
