  1. Default Chicago to Corpus Christi in April

Moving the family back to Corpus Christi, TX in April. Family-husband, 2 1/2 yr old, and 6 month old. We're driving our mini-van down. We're looking forward to it, but I'm hoping to make it a fun trip for my two year old. I'm hoping someone can give me some insight into good places to stop for breaks (places that have playgrounds, etc....) I've made this trip several times over the years but never with children, so this will be a new experience for me.
We're taking I-55 south all the way to I-10 and then I-10 to Houston, and south to Corpus. The only stop we have planned is Baton Rouge to visit friends.

I did look at the post of interstate stops etc, but we're not planning on taking any hikes during this trip.

    Any ideas?

    Default No Hiking Required

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

The point of the Interstate Stops was to provide just what you're looking for, places near the highway to get out and relax, and let a two year old run. You don't have to take a hike, and I suspect that many of the parks noted in that post have playgrounds. But if you're looking for something even quicker and more compact, then I'd suggest making your stops in towns of with populations of 3,000 to 5,000 or so and just drive through looking for city parks and school grounds.
