  1. Default Thanksgiving road trip with kids

My mother and I would like to find something fun to do for the Thanksgiving holiday with my two boys (8 and 12). We live in Upstate NY and are up for travel within our surrounding states. We've got 3-4 days. Any ideas??

Well, you've certainly got lots of options, it just depends upon your interests and what things you've done before. Obviously, you've got some of the most amazing cities in the world within your reach. New York, Boston, Toronto, Montreal, or Philly could make for a good trip. You've also got a number of natural wonders easily available. Niagara Falls is one option that could be worked into a trip to Toronto, or you spend some time exploring New England, the Coast, and/or Arcadia National Park.

Your boys are old enough that they can actually get a lot out of this trip if you're a little subtle about 'teaching' them. The Boston area is within a relatively easy day's drive. I can't think of a better place to spend Thanksgiving than at Plymouth Rock, Cape Cod, the Freedom Trail in Boston, Salem and Gloucester. For stops on the way, check out Sturbridge Village and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY
