Default Spring Road Trio-West Coast to East Coast

Me 'N Mom are going cross country for my graduation present.
We're road tripping it from Northern California to the East coast, we wanna hit all the great spots between here and there, like largest ball of twine (my mother, and the largest frying pan (CANNOT WAIT!!!) and etc.
We are new at this and have no idea about routes or anything.
We plan on camping most of the way, we're outdoorsy girls and can't help it =)

Anyways, if you have any ideas or suggestions feel free to let us know!!

    Me and Mom.

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

Its great that you're going on a cross country trip, and it sounds like a great way to celebrate one of lifes transitions.

Right now, you really haven't given us much to work with, however. You're starting in NoCal, but "the east coast" is a about a 3,000 mile target. Is there a specific place(s) you intend to see out east? Other cities and points that you know you'll want to visit? What is your timeframe for this trip?

Those things will make it much easier to point you in a direction to help you plan a great trip.
