Default Over 100k in one year!

That guy doesn't just have an iron butt, he's got XXXX of steel!

I would love to see your route. Is it something you can share? Maybe a google map?

If we can help you tweak things to make it work, let us know.

Maybe we can assign folks to stand at certain points along your route to toss you a Gatorade. Ya know, like marathoners.

49 states in 10 days? That's NUTS! I won't do that in a car with 3 people using speed run procedures!

The challenge of making a map for the rides is to hit all of the states in as few a miles as possible. I spent many, many hours working on the 48 state map. Each time I redid the map I was able to save some miles by finding gas stations closer to the state lines.
I used gas stations as way points because I needed a receipt for each state. I was able to use parts of last years map for the 48 Plus map.
I did make a lot of changes to it. I changed the starting point from Wisconsin to South Dakota. I will have to ride 550 miles to get to the starting point but I won't have to ride that far north during the ride. I also changed the route to the central states. The ride ends in Hyder, Alaska and then it's a 2500 mile ride to get back home.
Judy, I don't want to post the map here yet but I will email it to you so that you can see it. If you see any places that I can save some miles please let me know. I also have the route saved as a Garmin file. I enjoy the planning almost as much as the ride.
Gatorade along the route sounds great!!

I might be just a little crazy but here's a link to the most amazing ride story I have ever read!!
California to Florida on a motorcycle, non-stop. 2200 miles in 36 hours. Didn't stop for anything. Nothing!! Never got off the bike.
    Amazing ride!

    Default Quite a story

It's hard for us to condone this here as we're all about doing things safely and that trip might have been pushing it. It's hard to imagine that he was always as alert as he should have been. However, it does sound like a well-planned endeavor. I'd rather not even know about the external-well, relieving system. LOL

    Thanks for sharing.

I've been working on the 48 Plus ride. 48 states plus Alaska.
The challenge is that you still only get 10 days to complete the ride.
I have been looking for ways to save time and miles on the trip. (I do enjoy the planning.)
The first thing was to redo the map and make the route as short as possible. The map is done.

Toll roads also added a lot of stop time. I added an E-ZPass holder to the bike, it's mounted on the mirror arm.
This should save time. There were a lot of tolls on the last trip.

The second thing I have been working on is the fuel range. I added a two gallon axiliary fuel tank to the bike.
This tank is made to be mounted on the luggage rack. The tank is well made and includes a ground strap and check valves.
I have mounted the tank in a tour bag. This tank will extend my range another 80 miles before I need to look for gas.
I like simple so right now a have a hand pump but I may add an electric pump and attach the fuel line
to the main tank so I don't have to stop to transfer the fuel.

The map is done, the bike is ready to go and I would love to try the ride this year.............but

I have a partially torn muscle in my right arm. My doctor says I may need surgery :( ........... I'm hoping he's wrong.

My riding season may be coming to an end......

    Default Another long ride!

Another long ride and this time by (32 Ford) car. I enjoy reading the stories and I can appreciate the planning it takes to do a trip like this.
He (Dave) is attempting to drive to 49 states in less than 9 days. This ride is also a fund raiser.
Dave is trying to raise $100,000 for the Ronald McDonald House. This ride is still in progress.
He should be completing day 5, 4 days to go. You can track his progress at his website.
Dave has a Spot Tracker so you can track his progress each day. Go Dave!!!!

Welcome to the RTA forum, Chris!

Thanks for searching, but this thread is more than 10 years old (which explains why the links are dead) and while Rollin' used to be an active member, he hasn't been on the site in a couple of years.
