    Default Great basin National Park

I'm lookin to take a little 5-day roadtrip from Northern California out to Great basin National Park. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions about where to stay and if Memorial Day is a good weekend to go. I'm looking to stay in Ely, but it's 60 miles away and I don't want to make that drive three days in a row. Is there anywhere decent to stay in Baker?

My other question is when does the Wheeler Peak scenic drive typically open all the way up? I'm not sure how much snow they have out there this year.

Also, on the way home I would like to come via US-6 through Tonopah and back into California, anything good to check out along this route?

Default Never been there... I can't vouch for any particular place. These reviews of lodging in the Baker area might be helpful. Don't forget to click on the "B&B" link to read about the two places there as well.

The NPS website says that the Wheeler Peak drive is generally open from June-October. You may need to call the park directly to get better intel.
