  1. Default Denver to Laramie

I'm visiting colleges with daughter this April; will be stopping in Boulder (CU), Ft. Collins (CSU) and Laramie (U Wyo). I would enjoy a scenic detour, as it otherwise looks like mostly interstate. US287 looks like a direct route between Ft. Collins and Laramie that misses Cheyenne - is it a nice drive?

    Default A Scenic Detour

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

I'm sure US-287 is a fine road, they all are in that section of the country. But from Boulder, I'm going to suggest that you head west on CO-119, a great road through the foothills to Nederland, then turn north on CO-72. If you have time, do a little hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park . There are some great short trails near the east entrance. Even if you don't have that kind of time, stop at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park and walk the grounds. From there, US-34 will return you to US-287 at Loveland

That looks like a way more interesting route to Ft Collins than I25! Thanks!

    Default Us 287

Although it's been, ahem, a year or two (OK, 32 to be exact), I found US 287 to be a great drive to Laramie. Plus it's the only way you can visit wonderful Tie Siding, Wyoming.
