  1. Default Boston and north

I'm planning a trip for mid may and have to begin and end in Boston. I've never driven north of Boston and am anxious to drive the coast to Maine. I have 5 days. Any hints or ideas would be appreciated.

    Default a goal of mine

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

I haven't yet been up the Maine coast, although it really is high on my list of places I want to get to sooner rather than later.

Here is a short field report from a trip from Boston to Bangor that you might find helpful.

    Default Good time of year

Spring is a good time of year to make the trek up to Maine. In the Summer, things can be a bit crowded, but before Memorial Day, you should be able to take in the sights without battling the crowds. I especially enjoy walking the beaches at that time of year, and the Marginal Way in Ogunquit is always a nice stroll.

The ride up from Boston is very straightforward (a bit over 2 hours to Portland), and you can get off I-95 to US-1 and back rather quickly.
