  1. Default Albany, NY to Los Angeles in 7 days?

I am going out to Los Angeles for my Spring semester of college and plan on leaving January 1st and getting there on or by January 7th. I'll be sharing the driving with my brother, who will be flying back to Albany after we get there. Is there a way to do this while still going through some great places?

I won't have time to stop and explore, but I'd like to drive through some cool cities. Any suggestions?

Default You Can't Hardly Avoid It

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

Although it's called the Interstate Highway System (or more formally, the Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways) it's really a system of inter-city expressways that are designed to join rather than bypass cities. Between Albany and Los Angeles, the most efficient route will take you through Niagara Falls, Cleveland, Chicago, Des Moines, Denver, and Las Vegas. While driving only 200 miles more, you could do something completely different: Philadelphia, Washington, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque and Flagstaff. Or you can mix and match a bit. While 7 days isn't a ton of time, it does allow you a little flexibility and the chance to occasionally get out of the car for an hour here and there.
