  1. Default Los Angeles to Memphis in Winter

Another aussie going walkabouts but from mid december for 2 weeks.

I'm thinking of renting a car from 14th december to 29th dec stopping at South Rim Grand canyon and any other place that may be of interest. I need to be in memphis by 23rd Dec.

Has anyone ever done this trip before? I'm trying to avoid, snow and ice.

Any suggestions for unique places to stop by and check out?

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

There is lots of information on this route already on the forum. A good chunk of it follows Historic Route 66, so you can find lots of info about neat and unique things in that regard. That should at least get you started with a few ideas for things to do on the way.

When it comes to snow and ice, there's really no way to avoid it at that time of year except for having a little luck on your side. There can be some pretty significant snow and ice along this route at this time of year, but you can also see perfect conditions. With 2 weeks you'll have plenty of time for the trip, so I'd stay flexable and base a lot of your actual travel plans around the weather forecast, staying in places longer to let a storm pass, or moving on more quickly to avoid the weather.
