Awesome post, thanks for all of the information. I am a long-time user of Cobra products too. Was a beta tester for some of their hand-held models twenty years ago. Cobra was purchased by .... (can't remember) and I've heard that QOS has been reduced. Sorry to have that confirmed.

I wasn't aware of it either. I believe the CB unit in our current truck is a Cobra unit. (The CB in our old truck was a Radio Shack, and was included as part of the sale. However, I honestly don't know who made it for Radio Shack. The CB was from the late 70s.)

Escort Inc and Cobra merged to be Cedar Electronics.

You're welcome, Mark. And I also stand corrected. The CB unit in our current truck is also a Radio Shack unit. It came with the truck, which was an early inheritance, so I hadn't paid much attention. We seldom use the CB. About the only thing it's been used for are the NOAA channels, which we tune into, if the weather looks awful or our phones have screeched a weather warning at us (as they did just outside of Indianapolis, back in 2014).
