  1. Default Seattle to Boulder...need suggestions!!!

My friend and I are taking a road trip from Seattle to Boulder. We were thinking about stopping in Spokane, WA, through Idaho, a night or two in Montana, and a night or two in Wyoming. We don't know the area at all and any suggestions are welcome!! We want to do some beautiful hikes, camping, exploring...anything! Thanks!

    Default A Gorgeous Drive Ahead

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

One thing is for certain, and that is the beauty of the country you are about to be driving through. I've been over most of those roads, and those landscapes never cease to amaze me. Here's a report on the Palouse area around Spokane. Northern Idaho has a host of scenic byways, and once in Montana, you're going to be in the midst of several national forests. Yellowstone will be only a short detour from your main route, as will the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. If you're timing is right, stop in Cheyenne for Frontier Days. And don't miss Rocky Mountain National Park just before you get to Boulder.

In addition to the excellent suggestions offered above by AZBuck -- consider the Rose Garden in downtown Spokane. Here is a photo. Also, Spokane is home to one of my favorite bookstores in the country -- Aunties.

And then continuing into Idaho -- it is hard to beat the ambience and beauty of Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille. If you are camping -- stop by and say howdy to our friends that own Fox Farm near Sagle --very nice place to hang!

The train depot at Wallace, Idaho is pretty neat and if you want a real treat -- see if you can find Vern Pine's studio -- He is an amazing master with a chainsaw...

    Well, enjoy the planning!
