Default Houston, TX all the way to California

Hello everyone, I've been reading and studying this forum for the past two weeks looking for some hints and tips as well as similar roadtrips and all attractions on the way, however I didn't find that many...And since we are planning to leave sometime during this coming week...24th-25th july I was wondering if i could count on you helping me out a little.. Uhm the main purpose of this whole road trip is to visit the sequoia national park, las vegas and the grand canyon...but of course thats not all we want to visit...The plan is for it to last around 10-14 days I'm trying to find some other places that are simply a must see on the way (I have TX, and NM some what planned..I basically don't know what to choose in AZ, NV and CA ...)

And I think I should also mention that we are trying to make it really as inexpensive as it can be. We are also planning to spend most of the nights on campgrounds..

Lets see well the general trip is
(hope it will work) A being Houston then B Natural Bridge caverns.. C Silver City D Phoenix E Grand Canyon F Las Vegas and G the Sequoia National park

Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum! Hmmm, that is odd -- there are about 300+ threads that address your basic route and several articles in the larger RTA site.

I have to go to a meeting, but here is one field report that shares some ideas that include Sequoia and others will be added later. Be sure to look at the bottom of this page for more ideas.

Type in LA to Dallas - there are several really good posts that come up. In the one entitled LA to Dallas from June I gave a few tips from when I did this trip from LA to Shreveport.

    will do, thank you..
Does anyone know anything about free campgrounds with water/restrooms on the way there? And how about a few cheaper motels/hotels/inns in Las Vegas?

Default One Low Cost and Many No Cost 'Must Sees'

If you enjoy caves, be sure to consider Kartchner Caverns State Park in Benson, AZ, a unique living cave for about the price of Natural Bridge Caverns. And as long as you're going to be entering both the Grand Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, be sure to get the National Parks Pass either before you go or at the entrance to the first Park you come to. Then every park you enter for a year is essentially free and you can add such parks as White Sands National Monument, Saguaro National Park, Tuzigoot National Monument, Montezuma Castle National Monument, Walnut Canyon National Monument, Mojave National Preserve, Death Valley National Park, and Kings Canyon National Park to your itinerary for a grand total of $0.
